What do you imagine under the term CDE?

One of our colleagues gave an internal presentation some time ago, where he beautifully explained what CDE is for the “uninitiated”. He compared it to a kitchen.

The entire menu is created in the kitchen.

Recipes, preparation methods, ingredients and ready-made meals are stored here. But when everyone cooks according to a different recipe or stores ingredients somewhere to the side, confusion arises. Cooking in a poorly functioning kitchen is difficult.

CDE works the same way in a construction project.

When everyone works in the same environment, they have access to the same information, documents and current versions of data. Communication is clearer, coordination is more effective and errors are significantly reduced.

However, technology alone is not enough. The real benefit of CDE will only be apparent when all project participants use it and follow the rules set together.
